Icelandair to Launch New Reykjavik–Miami Route in October 2025

Icelandair has announced the launch of a new nonstop route between Reykjavik-Keflavik (KEF), Iceland, and Miami (MIA), Florida, set to begin on October 26, 2025. This will become the airline’s second-longest route, surpassed only by its Portland service.

The route will operate three times per week using Airbus A321neo (LR) aircraft, configured with 187 seats—22 in Saga Class and 165 in economy class.

Flight Schedule: Reykjavik – Miami

  • Flight FI 691 (KEF – MIA): Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays
    • Departure: 17:15 | Arrival: 20:55
  • Flight FI 690 (MIA – KEF): Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays
    • Departure: 17:15 | Arrival: 05:55 (+1)

Covering 5,896 kilometers with an estimated 8-hour 40-minute flight time, the route will offer 1,122 weekly seats, enhancing connectivity between Iceland and South Florida.

Expanded Connectivity & Passenger Benefits

From Miami, travelers will gain seamless access to Icelandair’s extensive European network via Reykjavik, with connections to destinations including Greenland, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Tenerife, Alicante, Paris, Rome, and Bergen.

Additionally, Icelandair’s Stopover Program allows passengers to stay in Iceland for up to seven days at no extra cost before continuing to their final destination.

Strengthening Latin America & Caribbean Presence

Miami serves as a key gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean, where major airlines like American Airlines and several Latin American carriers operate extensive networks.

This is not Icelandair’s first operation from Miami—the airline previously based a Boeing 757-200 at MIA to operate charter flights to Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Ecuador through travel agencies.

Miami: Icelandair’s 16th U.S. Destination

With Miami’s addition, Icelandair will serve 16 destinations in the United States, joining its current network:

Fleet Modernization & Future Expansions

The Miami route will mark Icelandair’s first operation with the Airbus A321neo (LR), which will gradually replace its aging Boeing 757-200 and 757-300 fleet. With its enhanced fuel efficiency, the airline plans to expand into new markets, including California, the Caribbean, and Mexico.

According to Cirium, Icelandair is set to receive seven additional Airbus A321neo (LR) aircraft between 2025 and 2027. Additionally, from 2029 to 2032, the airline will begin incorporating 12 Airbus A321XLR aircraft, offering extended range for long-haul expansion.
